Spirit Birds

Inspired by the powerful animal spirits expressed in the traditional totems of the Pacific Northwest First Nations, these birds embody coveted strengths.

I find myself particularly drawn to the challenge of representing the ephemeral qualities of light and air through a solid medium like clay. With this elemental material, I am able to animate the inanimate, bringing together the four fundamental forces: earth, air, water, and fire.
